Call For Artists to Apply for Space at the Newtown Artist Run Centre and Studios

Assemblage is pleased to announce that the Newtown Artist Run Centre and Studios (NewARC) has been open for six months and is now home to a growing and exciting community.

The NewARC Studios is a space run by artists for artists and offers studio spaces and support facilities for artists. It is a central hub for visual artists working in a variety of media (including painting, sculpture, photography, curating, writing, video and printmaking) and emphasises community, collaboration, sustainability and the sharing of resources, knowledge and skills. Resident artists can benefit from Assemblage's peer mentoring group sessions, workshops and talks, professional practice training, exhibition opportunities and international residency exchange which are held at the NewARC Studios.The NewARC Studios currently has space for up to 20 artists, with the possibility of expanding to offer space for up to 35 artists. The Studios are at 70% occupation and there is space for a few more enthusiastic and creative individuals to join the community. Studios range in size from 12 - 30 sqm and are priced from R800 - R3500 per month dependent on whether they are shared or not. Rent includes water, lights, security, Internet access, basic furniture, a growing library, some art making resources, priority access to Assemblage activities, a vibrant artistic community and a large network of art audiences.
